How to track Virgin Voyages Bar Tab & Sailor Loot purchases

Track Bar Tab purchases by sailor

The Bar Tab is used only for alcoholic or premium non-alcoholic beverages purchased onboard the ship or at the Beach Club at Bimini. The Virgin Voyages Sailor app makes it easy to track purchases either by sailor or by day. This is important to know because any free Bar Tab or Sailor Loot you scored by booking with me is shared for the cabin, not by the individual sailor. Fortunately, the Virgin Voyages Sailor app allows you to sort purchases by sailor.

Track Sailor Loot purchases by sailor

Sailor Loot purchases can also be tracked by date or sailor. Sailor Loot is a little different than Bar Tab because it can be used for everything, including everything the Bar Tab can. If you haven’t already, check out my other post, What’s the difference between the Bar Tab and Sailor Loot?

Sailor Loot purchases show up just like Bar Tab purchases in the Sailor app. in fact, it’s not always easy to track what goes against the Bar Tab and what does not. In my video above, you’ll notice a “Box Office” charge. That purchase was for a Grog Walk for two. The Grog Walk is a bit confusing because it includes beverages but is classified as an experience, so it is not actually charged to you Bar Tab.

What counts as Bar Tab vs. Sailor Loot purchases?

Bar Tab is only for alcoholic and premium non-alcoholic beverages purchased onboard the ship or at the Beach Club at Bimini. Every other purchase goes against Sailor Loot. Here’s another way to think about Bar Tab vs. Sailor Loot:

1. When you make any purchase using The Band (your Virgin Voyages wallet and key that you wear around your wrist), it is recorded on the Sailor app.
2. Alcoholic or non-alcoholic premium beverages are charged to your Bar Tab. This does not immediately reflect on you Bar Tab balance, but you should see things posted correctly within 24 hours.
3. Any other charges, such as shopping, Shore Things purchased onboard, or premium experiences such as the Grog Walk, do not count against your Bar Tab. They are deducted from Sailor Loot first.
4. You will receive an itemized invoice at the end of your cruise reflecting each of your purchases. The total amount will show your Bar Tab and Sailor Loot used. Any additional amount will be charged to your credit card on file.

2. Sailor Loot can be used on literally anything (even alcohol)
