Crocs: Underrated and essential cruise shoes

Published by

We packed way too many shoes for our first cruise. We had suitcases full of shoes, some we didn’t even wear. And, would you believe I even forgot to pack good beach shoes? We were prepared for our next cruise. Don’t make the same mistake we did. Pack your Crocs and be ready for (almost) anything you will encounter on your next cruise. Keep reading to learn why Crocs may be the best multipurpose cruise shoes money can buy.

Crocs can get wet and dry quickly

Crocs are my go-to cruise shoes when I’m at the pool or on the beach. Crocs are easy to slip on and off, and they dry quickly thanks to their material and breathability. The classic Croc also doesn’t have any absorbent material like other shoes. Therefore, your Crocs won’t stain if you spill your frozen mojito all over them!

You will appreciate Crocs’ ability to dry quickly at the beach. There’s nothing worse than walking around with sand in your shoes all day. When you rock your Crocs, you can just rinse them off, set them in the sun for a couple of minutes, and you’re good to go!

I wear a bold, red pair of Crocs on every Virgin Voyages cruise. I always wear my Crocs at the Scarlet Night pool party so I can get the best dancing spot right next to the pool without fear of getting wet feet. I even held my own in a dance-off with a Virgin Voyages legend thanks to my Crocs!

Could I pull off these sick moves in a pair of Chucks? Maybe, but I KNOW I can in a sweet pair of Crocs.

Crocs match your personality

If you’ve spent any time on this site, you probably realize I have a loud personality. I sport my yellow Crocs to support my school, North Dakota State University, at tailgates, games and watch parties. I rock the red Crocs when I’m cruising with Virgin Voyages. But sometimes, bold and beautiful Crocs just aren’t enough to let everyone know that you’re here to party. What do you do then?

Allow me to introduce Jibbitz! Jibbitz are special charms you can plug into your Crocs to really advertise your personality. Jibbitz come in a variety of designs including professional and collegiate sports teams, glow in the dark, and even light up designs. Jibbitz are also great for differentiating your special Crocs from the others when you’re at the pool.

Crocs are better for your feet than flip-flops

Crocs are better for your feet than flip-flops because they have an ankle strap to lock your foot into the shoe. Why does this matter? Open heeled shoes, like flip flops, make your foot work harder to stay inside your shoe. This extra work can lead to repetitive stress and, in some cases, plantar fasciitis. Don’t just take my word for it, see what the experts at Ortho Bethesda have to say about the dangers of wearing flip flops. Ditch the flip flops on your next cruise or beach vacation. Instead, snap that ankle strap back and rock out with your Crocs out. Trust me, your feet will thank you.

Final thoughts

Crocs are versatile and comfortable for your cruise. I wear my Crocs everywhere when I sail with Virgin Voyages, because they do not have a strict dress code anywhere on the ship. I feel equally comfortable wearing my Crocs in The Wake as I do on the pool deck. If you’re cruising with a different cruise line, be sure you understand the dress code requirements. They may not appreciate seeing your Crocs out at dinner, but you should be good in most other places.
