Virgin Voyages best meals

Published by

What is the best meal on the Scarlet Lady? My wife and I ask each other this question almost as much as we ask what the other wants for supper. “Best” is really hard to quantify. We haven’t found an objective way to name the best Virgin Voyages meal. So instead, I offer you my list of my favorite dishes on Virgin Voyages. Best of all, every dish below is already included in your voyage fare, so you never have to worry about hidden costs with Virgin Voyages. Of course, your tastes may be different than mine, so check out our Virgin Voyages restaurant guide and menus to find your favorite Virgin Voyages meal.

The 1am burger and fries at The Galley

This is a situation where my opinion is heavily swayed by time of day and extenuating circumstances like, “I really destroyed the Bar Tab today,” or, “I gotta pee so let’s make this quick.” That said, the atmosphere often makes the meal, and you just can’t beat the 1am hamburger and fries at The Galley.

A burger and fries are some of the best things to eat after a night of partying. The fat provides a nice waxy coating to protect the digestive tract from absorbing the rest of that beer (not health advice.) Salty fries are great for rehydrating as they force your body to retain water. And, let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good greasy burger in the middle of the night?

Nothing beats a burger and fries after a night of drinks and dancing. A hamburger and fries is the best Virgin Voyages meal at 1am.

Another great perk of the 1am burger and fries is its availability. While all your fellow passengers are lined up down the hall, around the bow, and halfway back again for pizza, you can typically walk right up to the nice hamburger person and order immediately. I’m not sure the hamburger and fries is the best meal you’ll find onboard, but it sure does the trick at 1am!

Poke bowls at Sun Club Café

This one is easy to miss. The Sun Club Café is located way up on Deck 16, port side, right next to the entrance to Richard’s Rooftop. The Sun Club Café serves delicious Poke bowls. Poke bowls are my favorite healthy and light options on those hot sea days.

I love the Sun Club Café because it tends to be quieter than most of the other dining venues. It’s also located outdoors, so there’s plenty of sunny places to eat. If you need a little shade, The Sun Club Café offers ample shaded seating as well. The Sun Club Café keeps limited hours, so be sure to check the Virgin Voyages sailor app, as you definitely do not want to miss this one. And, if you have long hair, bring a hair tie to keep your hair out of your fresh poke bowl. Trust me, it gets a breezy up there!

Razor clam chowder at The Wake

The Razor clam chowder isn’t technically a meal, but it is one of my favorite dishes on a Virgin Voyages cruise. The razor clam chowder is served deconstructed in a bowl of Yukon gold potatoes, smoked bacon, and chive batons, then smothered in creamy clam chowder. I really cannot describe it any better, so I offer you a video instead.

The razor clam chowder is a must-try on your next cruise and is easily one of Virgin Voyages’ best dishes.

You cannot go wrong with anything at The Wake, but the razor clam chowder is essential. My wife and I loved it so much, we even asked our Mega Rockstar agent to deliver a couple bowls to our Posh Suite. Just remember, you’ll want reservations for The Wake, so be sure to plan this meal in advance.

Bonus: Everything at the Beach Club at Bimini

I’m calling this a bonus because it’s not technically ON the ship, but the Beach Club at Bimini delivers one of the best meals of the entire voyage. I wasn’t sure what to expect at Bimini, but I was extremely happy with the meal. Food at the Beach Club at Bimini is included in your voyage fare, so you never have to worry about paying extra.

A delicious meal at the Beach Club at Bimini.
Clockwise from the top: Grilled corn on the cob, crispy cassava, West Indian pumpkin curry, Caribbean chicken, steamed red snapper.

West Indian pumpkin curry and Caribbean chicken are my two favorite dishes at The Beach Club at Bimini. The Beach Club also offers a delicious rum cake dessert. Unfortunately, the rum cake was so good that I could not wait for a photo before I introduced it to my stomach. You’ll have to take my word on this one and try it for yourself.

Final thoughts: Virgin Voyages has so many great dishes, it’s hard to pick a favorite.

I struggled to limit this post, as I could have easily chosen something from every restaurant. I could easily spend an entire sea day drifting from restaurant to restaurant trying new and exciting dishes. No matter what your tastes, you are sure to find something you love onboard your next Virgin Voyages cruise.
