Tapper or score with a couple of Italian brothers at the Social Club

The Social Club on Deck 7 is hands-down, the best place to score on a Virgin Voyages cruise. Why? The Social Club has a ton of retro arcade games. Smash some turtles with Mario Bros. or try Tapper, a Budweiser-themed game where you serve beer to thirsty customers. The Social Club also offers a two player Nascar game, Golden Tee, and several other options where you can rack up the high scores either by yourself or with a partner.

The Social Club also has a great selection of board games and playing cards, perfect for a couple or a group. Just make sure to be a good sport and keep score because, where I come from, the loser has to buy a round of drinks!

If your idea of scoring involves a little more physical activity, you can play air hockey, foosball or tabletop shuffleboard in the Social Club as well. My wife may have kicked my butt up and down the arcade, but I got even at the air hockey table.

Score with a group at trivia

Virgin Voyages offers a ton of trivia throughout your voyage. Trivia is a great way to make new friends and score up to 10 points per round. There are several different themes and categories for trivia including ice cream tasting, movies, and music.

We loved playing trivia as it was a great way to be social and meet new friends. Trivia had different categories so everyone had something they knew. We killed it on music trivia and movie trivia, but the general knowledge category kicked our butts. Find your brand of trivia on the sailor app. You will be amazed at how many games you can play throughout your vacation.

Score outside, all over the ship

Virgin Voyages has a ton of great spaces to score outside. My favorite is the basketball court on Deck 16. Play an impromptu game of basketball, pickleball, and even join a dodgeball tournament! Just remember, if you’re in the Caribbean, you will get sweaty. Pack accordingly ladies and gentlemen.

I’m not much of a basketball star, but I enjoyed shooting hoops to break a sweat and detox before I retoxed. The ocean breeze and motion of the ship (though I never felt it) made for great excuses when I airballed one (or many.) I didn’t get to join a dodgeball team this time, but I hear they can get pretty competitive. This is something on my list for next time. Sail with me, and let’s form a team.

If you want to score with a queen, you can play a thrilling game of jumbo chess outside near the Athletic Club bar. In fact, the chessboard is so close to the bar, you can score on pajama party night without having to leave the party. If you’re going down, stop at Deck 7 and step outside for shuffleboard and feel the breeze through your hair as you play the night away.
