Fun things to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise

Published by

Cruising is the ultimate vacation. Why? A cruise is the only place you can unpack once, see several different countries, and never have to worry about finding transportation and fun things to do. But what is there to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise? Read on and learn our favorite things to do on a Virgin cruise!

Find fun things to do with the Virgin Voyages Entertainment Guide

First, a disclaimer. This is, in no way, an exhaustive list of all the fun things to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise. There are so many things to do, and the onboard activities change, so maintaining an exhaustive list would be a full time job (hey, Virgin Voyages, contact me!) This post is a list of some of the things we enjoy, but there are so many more things we have not tried yet.

The Virgin Voyages Entertainment Guide is a great place to start planning for fun things to do on your cruise. The entertainment guide provides a comprehensive list of dance parties and shows you will find onboard the Virgin Voyages ships. No matter what you’re into, you’re sure to find something fun to do.

I would love to be able to tell you that we’ve tried it all and done everything you can on a Virgin Voyages cruise, but I feel like we have only scratched the surface. Now that you’ve read the Entertainment Guide, allow me to share some of our favorite fun things to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise.

Meet new friends on a cruise

Cruises are excellent ways to make new friends. Whether you’re a solo traveler or a couple looking to meet new people, you’re sure to find ways to make new friends on a cruise. Virgin Voyages offers multiple solo traveler events throughout your Voyages so, even if you board alone, you’re sure to leave with great memories and new friends. Who knows, you might even find a travel companion!

The Grog Walk is another excellent way to meet people. The Grog Walk is a ship-wide pub crawl, complete with alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Keep in mind the Grog Walk is not charged to your Bar Tab, so you’ll need to either use Sailor Loot or pay have it charged to your cabin. The Grog Walk is an absolute must-do on your Virgin Voyages cruise, and we always recommend booking this the moment you cross the gangway. Try to find something for the first night, and you’re sure to make friendships that will last at least as long as the full trip.

Go on a drinking treasure hunt

Imagine our surprise when we stepped into our cabin and found a real-life treasure map! The Seven Seas Sipper map is an onboard treasure hunt, leading you to seven different bars (and drinks) as you complete your scavenger hunt. Each bar will stamp your map when you’re done, and we submitted ours at Sailor Services for a chance to win a free cruise! This boozy treasure hunt was one of our favorite things to do on our cruise. Of course, this promotion may not always be available, but feel free to use our map for inspiration!

Seven Seas Sippers drinking treasure hunt: A fun thing to do on a cruise
The Seven Seas Sippers treasure map led us to a variety of bars and introduced us to drinks we would have never discovered on our own.

The Seven Seas Sipper treasure map introduced us to several bars onboard, and also encouraged us to try drinks we would’ve never come up with on our own. Best of all, these drinks are billed to your Bar Tab! Even if you don’t drink alcohol, the bartenders onboard are happy to mix up a unique mocktail that you’re sure to love. Check out my other post, How to spend your Virgin Voyages bar tab if you don’t drink alcohol, for some fun ideas.

Unleash your RockStar: Sing some karaoke!

I may have mentioned once or twice that I LOVE karaoke. If I am going to sail in a Mega RockStar suite, I better be able to back it up with a microphone. Fortunately, Virgin Voyages has a great karaoke scene. You can sing karaoke in front of a large audience on Scarlet Night. We kicked off the party at The Social Club and, even though I wasn’t having my best singing night, everyone cheered me on. In fact, there’s basically only two rules of karaoke: Cheer for everyone else and have a great time!

Karaoke at a private suite at The Groupie. I’m not saying I’m any good, but I definitely had a lot of fun!

If you’re not crazy about singing in front of a large group, you can rent private karaoke suites by the hour at The Groupie. The karaoke suites vary in size, and some can accommodate over 10 people. Don’t know what to sing? No problem. There’s plenty of karaoke roulette apps that will pick a song for you, or do what we do and come up with categories like, “Sing a song from the year you were born,” or “Sing a Top 10 hit from your freshman year.” Just get started, and set your inner RockStar free!

Catch a show

Virgin Voyages offers a variety of shows and onboard entertainment, all included in your voyage fare, so there are always fun things to do on your cruise. Now, going to shows isn’t really my thing. I have a tough time sitting still for long, but Virgin Voyages shows are different. For starters, Virgin Voyages shows are shorter and more interactive with the audience. We enjoyed a couple of magic shows. I even got called onstage to participate! I had a ton of fun, my mind was blown, and I will never figure out those illusions.

We were mesmerized by Duel Reality, an acrobatic interpretation of Romeo & Juliet. The dancers are incredible athletes, and the choreographed acrobatics and dance moves blew me away. Some cruise lines perform Broadway-style productions with elaborate costumes and set design. I appreciated Duel Reality because it didn’t drag on for hours, and it got my adrenaline pumping.

Check the Sailor App for daily fun activities

The Virgin Voyages Sailor App is the official list of all fun things to do on your cruise. There really is something fun for everyone, and some of the onboard activities include:

  • Basketball
  • Dodgeball tournaments
  • Trivia
  • Summer camp activities
  • Dance parties
  • and so much more to list here!

Final thoughts: there are tons of fun things to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise

I would love to be able to provide a full list of all the fun things to do, but there really is so much that I would just be doing it a great disservice by trying. Whether you’re into the social scene, games and trivia, or lounging in the sun, you will find a lot of fun things to do on your cruise. Best of all, most of your entertainment options are included in your Voyage fare. Some experiences cost a little extra, but you can cover that with your Sailor Loot. Even if you don’t spend a dime beyond your voyage fare, you are sure to find plenty of fun things to do on a Virgin Voyages cruise.
