Virgin Voyages offers A Splash of Romance package that is an add-on to the cruise that you’ve already booked. My husband, Dustin, surprised me on our last cruise with the Splash of Romance package. I had no idea what it entailed, but quickly figured it out! Let me break it down for you.
Upon arriving at the Virgin Voyages port, I had no clue that Dustin had purchased the Splash of Romance package. Imagine my confusion when he breezed us right past the queue of people who were waiting to board and walked right past the security team stationed at the door with a quick flash of his phone screen. What was happening?
As part of the Splash of Romance package, sailors get priority embarkation, which means that we got to board right after the Rock Stars. We boarded about an hour and a half earlier than our expected embarkation time and didn’t have to stand in any lines. I was whisked to a desk where I was promptly given a Splash of Romance wristband. This wristband is the key to all things romance, so it’s very important to keep it on at all times!
Upon arrival at our cabin, we found a list of everything we get as part of the Splash of Romance package.
- A cold-pressed energizing juice every morning, which was a selection from the standard list of juices and the selection changed daily
- A three-hour spa pass
- Aphrodisiac bites delivered to our room on the 3rd and 4th nights of the sailing which included macarons, truffles, and other delicious treats
- A complimentary “Shake for Champagne” while on board
- An exclusive cocktail event
Dollars and Cents: Does Splash of Romance add value?
Now, I am a big numbers person. For our sailing, Splash of Romance cost $200 USD per couple. The spa time and the Moët & Chandon champagne that we got as part of the Splash of Romance package alone made up for the initial cost. Now, consider the early embarkation and the amount of complimentary champagne we drank at the exclusive cocktail event, and we are talking about some real monetary benefit!
Is A Splash of Romance worth it?
Look at the romance! This happy couple says that the verdict is: YES! Splash of Romance is 100% worth the extra money. We had a blast during our time in the spa. We got to try energizing juices in unexpected flavor pairings. The aphrodisiac bites were delicious and tantalizing. Also, we have both always wanted to try “Shake for Champagne” through the Virgin Voyages app, and this gave us the perfect excuse to try it out.
