Help! I Can’t Get a Dinner Reservation on Virgin Voyages!

Published by

When scrolling through different forums for Virgin Voyages, there is a common theme of mild panic related to not being able to get dinner reservations at specific restaurants (check out our Virgin Voyages restaurant guide). The restaurants are all excellent, but the hidden gem for dinner is the one you least expect: The Galley.

That’s right, The Galley, Virgin Voyages’ meal hall with different dining concepts for an easy grab-and-go experience, offers a full dinner experience. On our latest cruise aboard the Scarlet Lady, there were some fantastic options for dinner at The Galley every night, and we never felt like we missed the dining experience by skipping out on having a set dinner scheduled at The Wake, Gunbae, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Test Kitchen, or Razzle Dazzle.

On our four-night cruise, these were the daily dinner options at The Galley:

  • Salmon, chicken wings, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese
  • Prime rib and roasted vegetables
  • Sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, vegetable noodles
  • Coconut curry chicken, basmati rice, naan

Benefits of eating dinner at The Galley

1. You are not tied to a scheduled reservation time. We found the flexibility of The Galley fit our needs well as we tried to sign up for more activities and shows. Nothing is worse than having a dinner reservation mess up your schedule, meaning you miss part of dinner or part of the show you wanted to see.

2. The food is GOOD! The menu above is indicative of what is commonly offered. However, we did a cruise on The Scarlet Lady over Thanksgiving, and on Thanksgiving night, they had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry. So, our menu isn’t necessarily what you will get, but trust me when I say everything was delicious!

3. Endless portions – how often have you read that people left dinner at the Test Kitchen still hungry? Test Kitchen is a really cool experience, don’t get me wrong, but if you’re looking for a more substantial meal, grabbing seconds and even thirds at The Galley is absolutely acceptable, even encouraged!

In conclusion, if you can’t get dinner reservations at The Wake, Gunbae, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Test Kitchen, or Razzle Dazzle, The Galley offers a wholly delicious and filling dining experience. However, if dining at The Wake, Gunbae, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Test Kitchen, or Razzle Dazzle is non-negotiable, work with me as your travel agent, and I will take all the reservation planning over for you. No matter what, you can’t go wrong with the food on Virgin Voyages!
